Research into Digipak's

Johnny Cash Digipak

The front cover has a picture of the main singer on; in this case it is Johnny Cash himself. Then there is the album name at the top along with the artist’s name. Also on the front cover there is the amount of CD’s in the digipak, which is placed in the bottom left hand side of the digipak. This digipak is in grey scale which shows the time period the songs were recorded but a hint of modern because the name Johnny Cash is in bold red to attract the audience. Inside the digipak there are different picture according to things which were associated around Johnny Cash’s life. For example the middle page inside the digipak has an American flag which shows, where this music comes from also the buildings in the background are from the 60’s when this music was produced. The CD's that come with the digipak looks like an old vinyl which would have been the storage device for the 60’s. The back of the digipak is also grey scale with the colour for main headlines to make them stand out. The back includes the bar code and the distributors of the CD. The inside page of this digipak includes a short summary of the artists life which maybe a promotional help to the film “walk the line” which is a film about Johnny Cash’s life from start to finish.

The Who Digipak

This who's digipak is interesting because on the front cover it is set out as a newspaper which is advertising themselves. The front cover also has the conventional newspaper colours and also has the members of the group. On the back of the digipak are all the different songs which are on the CD. These have different fonts to make the back of the digipak attractive. The inside of this digipak has different pictures of trams which show the time period of which this music is based around. This digipak has been grey scaled to interact with different genres. This digipak is more artistic than the Johnny Cash one which is more simple but affective. I like this digipak because it is more packed with different objects and places like the tram.
The Killers Digipak
This digipak is for the killers. I like the CD because it looks like a old fashioned vinyl. They put the whole band on the inside to show who have made the music. You can see this is a modern digipak because there is a lot of different colours but mainly different shades of blue. They used a complimentary colour on the writing to the left to make it standout from the blue. All the band on the right are wearing black which shows the formal side of the music. The font is non serif which shows you that this album digipak is aimed at a middle and low class people. The use of blue as the primary colour on this digipak may represent that this digipak is aimed at men rather then women.
